How I Deal with A Terrible Day?http://guttulus.com/wp-content/themes/corpus/images/empty/thumbnail.jpg 150 150 http://2.gravatar.com/avatar/?s=96&d=mm&r=g
Some days in start up life are tougher than others. I work up at 5am today to drive to an Acura dealership to get my car checked out. Well… it took from 7:20am until 6pm for them to tell me my compressor wasn’t working… and they need 1100 dollars. Yeah, that wasn’t going to happen. Roll down windows it is for a while. One of the things I’m learning is how to budget my own life better. Which is weird, since I create proposals and budgets for companies all the time. However, when it comes to my own budget, not so much.
Last weekend I went to Anime Matusuri. I met with some friends I haven’t seen in a long time. It was sort of a high school/college reunion. My friends are pretty nerdy, so it’s not a hard sell. I spent more money than I should. And that’s with perks and a free 3-day badge (which I took full advantage of by going one day).
On top of having overspent for the month, I got a letter from the homeowner’s association telling me my lawn was mowed… which is sort of ridiculous given my gardener was sick for two weeks and the lawn wasn’t really that overgrown.
Expense piled on expense. And then there’s the issue of monthly fees like TeamTreeHouse, which I haven’t logged on in a month? And PS Network, etc.
What makes a bad day seem not so bad? Well finishing things. I’m a bit weird, in that I feel a great sense of accomplishment whenever I finish a video game or anime series. I just finished Final Fantasy Type 0 and Gurren Lagann. The endings were incredibly sad, but that’s my favorite sort of endings. Life is alright as long as you have close friends, family, and great stories to be inspired by.
Tomorrow, I’m just going to stay in. I always feel bad about canceling a volunteer shift, even if another volunteer was able to cover the shift. But I really need a day of stress free coding and white paper making. Oh and I should probably make two dozen or so videos for youtube…. Every weekend is eventful.
