Although this is a common problem, it is often not picked up quickly and teachers will hardly identify it in students with the learning difference. This is because such students don’t even know that they are perceiving the sounds wrongly. They struggle with comprehension of text, hardly understand spoken languages and poor communication skills.
These learning differences should not be treated as disabilities. As earlier stated, we are all wired differently and our levels of comprehension are different. Students in middle school with the above mentioned learning differences need support from the teachers and the students in order to excel. They are not dumb, they are just different.
