How to Brand Yourself?

tony

I’m been branding myself… or the guttulus for about 2 years.  I’ve learned about what not to do in that time.  To a similar extend I’ve been branding my lion hobby channel.   The key is to consistently produce content… even if you don’t want to.  Once you stop producing content… it you want to pick up on it again… it’s so difficult.  You are either always promoting yourself… or never promoting yourself.  There’s no intermediate if you are branding yourself online.  Online there’s numbers and conversions.  PPC is about conversions.  Social Media is about numbers.  I guess… there’s optimization along the way… but important is reaching pre-set goals.

It’s simple to determine whether you are branding yourself.  Just check how many people are following you.  For a slightly better method you can track engagement with something like Klout.  I’m not a fan of Klout… but the concept is solid.  Just because you have a lot of followers doesn’t mean you get a lot of engagement.  If your following never engages with you then it’s not worth having them.

I’m excited for the videos I get to make today.  Although… somehow it’s 5:20pm….  When I do PPC it’s easy to lose track of time.  Especially true when you have pandora in the backend and I’m in my personal library.  Time goes by extra slow… and extra fast in my library.  Hard to explain….  in the day time time passes by so fast.  But at night when I start coding or crunching on my work… it goes by slow…. and I can get a lot more done.

Branding is a battle of wills.  It’s easy to give up and say no more blogs… 5 is enough.  Who writes five blogs in one day?  Or no more videos.  The most successful brands are the ones that keep going even if they don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Brand yourself because you enjoy it… not because you want something from it.  Every piece of content is another opportunity to present yourself.  I use my videos not to become famous… but to practice making videos.  I’ve gotten slightly better at making videos since I started.

I use these blogs to reflect on.  Hence the lack of editing.. and the 6 blogs a day philosophy.  If you never create content… you aren’t good at creating content.  By forcing myself to create at least 6 blogs every week… among articles… I’m practicing generating content.  I write it faster and better than the week before.  Like sales, you can’t get good at content generation or branding without practicing. And the more you practice the better you get.
