This website is only about 6 months old. I created some previous content a while ago… but the website it self is new. It was a struggle to get it up and running…. the server kept crashing. My original concept for it was much grander than it’s current form. I was going to have an entire video series much like Teamtreehouse for PPC. However… that didn’t happen. I wasn’t able to spend as much time on it as I thought. After resigning from my previous agency… for all types of reasons…. I planned on spending the next 2 months working exclusively on my website. I’d save enough money to do so and was looking forward to redoing the entire thing.
I’m fairly proud of what I was able to create. While the look and design needs vast improvement the content is top notch. I’m going to spend this weekend updating the study guides and adding more to it. I haven’t checked the traffic recently. Let me do that. 11, 531 page views in the last 90 days. Which is about right… my other website… which I don’t update gets a bunch of traffic too. 3, 659 organic searches which is not bad. I haven’t promoted my website. Next year I’m going to start promoting it.
Social Media has been pretty good this year. Considering I’ve only done it for half a year… or even less for linkedin, instagram and facebook pages. I’m excited to see how far I can go in 2016. At the very least I should be able to double most of my accounts. I’m most proud of getting over 1,000 followers on instagram. That took a lot of dedication and work. The key was to post the same type of pictures over and over. Nothing beats consistency. My lion accounts essentially run itself. As long as I’m posting about a video a day it grows at a pretty decent rate.
Books. I’m now the proud owner of an entire library. It’s amazing to never be bored. To always have something new an interesting to read.. if you want it. I read a lot this year. Far more than in college… but less than in law school. I love reading. A book can never let you down. Recently, I’m been binge reading new series. About startups and business. I read a lot of online articles too from Moz and Koozai. The literature in this particular field is interesting and diverse. However… the physical books leave something to be desired. Mainly because digital changes so frequently by the time a digital marketing book is published it will be outdated.
There will be a lot more books and articles to read in 2016. The concept of RankBrain will change SEO. How? I’m not sure. As in all marketing, this change will reward those who adapt and punish those who are lazy. Can’t wait.
